One of the players the Mountaineers are trying to recruit is wide receiver Ivan McCartney, the cousin of NFL super star receiver Chad Ochocinco (formerly known as Chad Johnson). This kid is currently one of the top high school football players in the state of Florida. If the Mountaineers would be able to sign this kid on February 3rd (National Signing day) this class would be a big success. McCartney comes from Miramar High School where three current players, one commitment and their head football coach are on the team or have played for WVU in the past.

There only seems to be one other school in the running for this top receiver and that’s Miami. He grew up a Miami fan, but other than that he has no other connection to the university besides being from the state of Florida. If the Mountaineers would get this receiver I feel it would be a big boost With the type of offense we run here at WVU we need a true number one go-to receiver and this kid would be it. Most of the top players in the nation usually wait until signing day to decide what schools they’re going to. McCartney should be the same way. I don’t expect him to pull a Tyrelle Prior and have press conference on signing day to announce he hasn’t decided what school he is going to go to.

If WVU signs McCartney he will be the most hallowed recruit since Noel Devine committed to WVU three years ago.
